Learn how to approach a script as a director, work with actors, develop a vocabulary to get results. Previous acting classes are a huge plus, but there is no prerequisite for this class. Those who have taken this class may be offered the opportunity to direct scenes that will be presented late spring as part of our Young Playwrights Project, an exciting writing project developed for middle and high school students. Past students from this class are now directing regionally and hale the techniques learned at ATC as intrinsic and invaluable to their directing process. This class may be scheduled in a "non-traditional" time slot. Night-workers and high school/college students may find this works great for them!
"Perfecting the Ten Minute Play"
This exciting new course in creative writing, taught by director/writer Michael Susko, will focus on each individual's level of writing the ten-minute play.
You will be looking at various ten minute plays and examining them to see what goes into them, and why they work. Prompts will be given in order to stimulate creative writing exercises which will hatch ideas that you may use to write your very own one-act play!
You will learn from each others’ successes, and create a final project, presented to an invited audience. Your work MAY even get produced in NYC as part of the NTC Festival in the spring!
